April has extensive rural health care experience and has
been working with a diverse population here in rural
Northern Alberta for the past number of years. April’s
practicing background includes: primary care, women’s
health, pain management, addictions, mental health and
emergency and correctional contexts.
What is a Nurse Practitioner?
Nurse Practitioners have a graduate degree in nursing and can legally examine patients, diagnose, illness, prescribe medication, order and interpret diagnostic studies and imaging (lab tests, EKG’s,immunization, etc.), provide prenatal and family planning services (IUD’s, well-childcare, etc.),perform minor procedures (suturing, casting, etc.) and nearly all primary health services concerning health maintenance and management.
